From the Starlet Series

Starlet’s Man

by Carla J. Hanna

Trapped in Hollywood’s Web

Lights, cameras, action! Money, fame and your name on the cover of your favorite magazine! Can life get any better? Yes, it can get real.

Carla J. Hanna, author of the popular young adult Starlet Series, says we have it all wrong. With an insider’s perspective on Hollywood, Hanna writes her books with the unmistakable stamp of authenticity. Living and raising her children in the same circle as Hollywood A-listers, Hanna gives readers an intimate look into the life of a teen celebrity.

The fourth installment in Hanna’s Starlet Series, Starlet’s Man breaks away from her female cast of characters and shares the story from Manny Biro’s point of view. High school student athlete, Manny, is caught between the boy he should be and the man he wants to become. Everyone around him accepts the Hollywood life. He doesn’t.

Manny wants no part of acting. On the surface, his childhood best friends seem to have it all: money, power, success. Between the lines, they are all confused. Alan is a messed up, wannabe director focused on pushing scenes to their sexy potential. Beth is an athlete driven to escape from a dark past. Janet is Manny’s kid sister caught up in fashion and trends. And Marie is a lonely actress exhausted by the culture that makes everyone’s favorite stories.

With a genuine glimpse into the life of Hollywood teens, Starlet’s Man:

  • Shows the humanity of teens trapped in Hollywood’s web
  • Provides an alternative view from inside the lives of Hollywood’s elite
  • Explores sexual situations and conversations teens should have when they consider becoming sexually active
  • Includes gay and atheist characters who are good people
  • Contains Christian themes that may be unexpected in the lives of A-listers

“I want to provide older teenagers and young adults with books they can relate to and want to read,” says Hanna. “The Starlet Series includes situations prevalent in today’s society including bi-racial characters and couples, homosexuality, sexual situations and religion.”

Carla Hanna lived in Santa Monica, CA where her children played with the children of celebrities. She mingled with plenty of nannies and a few good celebrity moms. She received her Master’s in English/Communications from Colorado State University and lives near Denver, CO with her husband and two children.

The Starlet Series is available on and Starlet’s Man will be available September 8, 2014.
